In addition to these courses, PortAventura is also creating another course designed by Alfonso Vidaor and Magí Sardà, golfers and prestigious Spanish designers. In total, the three courses span 200 hectares, provide five rounds and will be able to host high level competitions.
NORTH COURSE
The North course, designed by Greg Norman, has 18 holes and a par 70. Of the three, it is the most technical course, and offers players the biggest challenge.
The North Course is located on a land that slopes softly in a North-South direction and surrounds the Sèquia Major Area, classified by the Regional Government of Catalonia as part one of the Areas of Natural Interest, due to its environmental value both in terms of flora and fauna (especially as regards birds and fish). The golf course is smoothly and harmoniously integrated within its surroundings, multiplying the wet areas which originally existed, and creating a wetlands landscape which is rarely found in the Mediterranean. It is a varied and entertaining course, with par 71 and more than 6100 metres in length, allowing for a combination of strategy and distance and precision, alternating the water obstacles with bunkers and natural wet areas.
CENTRE COURSE
The Centre course, also designed by Greg Norman, has 9 holes and a par 34. It is a spacious, simple course, ideal for mid-level players. Due to its location and design, it can be combined both with the North Course and with the South Course.
The centre course is located on the slope that reaches the highest part of the resort and the old fields of olive trees and carob trees, which have been kept and replanted to recover the original landscape and provide the course with added interest. The archaeological excavations carried out, which have uncovered structures and pavings that have been restored and integrated into the course, give it a special character, complemented by the recovery and maintenance of the small stone benches that existed in the area. 9 hole, par 35 course, which has been designed as a course that is comfortable for all kinds of golfers, without excessive lengths. It can easily be combined with the South and North Courses.
SOUTH COURSE
The South Course, designed by Alfonso Vidaor and Magí Sardà, has 18 holes and a par 72. As it is located on a land with natural contours, surrounded by pine trees and offering magnificent sea views, it has an integrated and sinuous design which is an invitation in itself to play golf. The South Course is located on the Cap de Salou lands, through white pine tree woods and olive and carob tree plantations, and soft slopes and undulations. The integration of the golf course within the surroundings has made it possible to create an attractive and varied course, with sufficient distance for high competition, and which doesn’t exclude guaranteed entertainment for players of all levels. It includes a practice course, two putting greens and a chipping green, all of them within the Casa Club surroundings.
