Tamarit is an old coastal village located on a rocky promontory, in a natural environment of great beauty, between the Gaià Rivermouth and the Bosc de la Marquesa, a lovely native forest next to the sea.

Beaches and Coves

The Tamarit Beach, about 8 km from the Tarragona city centre, is characterized by its serenity, away from the hustle and bustle. It is located next to the Gaià rivermouths and connects with the Altafulla beach. It has showers and is certified with the Blue Flag.

Cala Jovera is a small cove that offers stunning views of the Castle of Tamarit. It is one of the wild beaches of Tarragona, it only has access on foot through the castle road and has no services.

La Mora Beach is perfect for families, quiet and safe, without height differences in the sea. It is a small semi-urban beach surrounded by vegetation and rock formations.

In the Bosque de la Marquesa we find the other 2 wild beaches of Tarragona. La Cala Fonda, (naturist) also called Waikiki for its likeness to the Hawaii beaches, and the Cala de la Roca Plana. Only accessible on foot from the Camino de Ronda.

Things to do in Tamarit

Tamarit offers you the best environment to get away and enjoy nature. There are many trekking and btt routes, perfect to discover the surrounding area, as well as different proposals for the whole family.

You can not miss the special charm of the villages of Ferrán and Altafulla, which offers some very interesting guided tours through the Vil.la Closa, els Munts and the maritime district.

Very close to there, completely in the wild, you can find the old Roman quarry of El Mèdol, from where the romans extracted the stone to build the monuments of Tarraco, another must-have visit during your stay.

Sports and Adventures

For those who want la thrilling adventure, Tamarit has the base camp of Mar Aventura by Sportec. A company specializing in adventure sports in the natural environment and offering guided tours, equipment rental and large wile of activities like Kayak, snorkel, paddle surf, segway...

To live a unique family adventure, we recommend the Jungle Trek multi-adventure park, with 11 circuits and more than 100 challenges. Located in the middle of the forest among the trees. It is a great option for kids, because it has circuits at very low altitude especially for small children.

Gastronomy

In Tamarit, like on most of the Costa Dorada and Tarragona, you can enjoy a unique gastronomic experience. The best products of the Mediterranean Diet with certificate of origin serve to elaborate the most traditional recipes and the most avant-garde proposals.

Tamarit with kids

In addition to the above proposals to enjoy a different family holiday (beaches, nature routes, adventure sports ...) we would like to recommend 2 funny activities for kids.

Visit to Hort de la Sinia, an agroecological farm where they will learn to grow a garden, taste the vegetables they have collected, among a lot of activities specially designed for children to contact nature through a unique experience.

A walk through the "Gincama de los Sentidos" (Gymkhana of the Senses) through the irrigation ditches and the rivermouth. A small tour (also adapted for children with special needs) in which they will discover for themselves the native fauna and flora in a fun way.
